Beer Brewing History & Beer Tasting (April 6th)

If you’d like to discover more about the delicious beers you enjoy drinking, then you should book a ticket for this event. Not only will you learn about the history of beer making in California, but you’ll also learn how to brew your own beer. Andy McKee (April 6th)

Listening to this unique guitarist isn’t an experience any music fan can afford to miss. Andy has an incredible YouTube following due to his exciting style of guitar playing, something which you’ll only truly appreciate when you sit in a hushed silence enjoying an entirely new level of musicianship. Check out his track “Drifting” on YouTube – this is just a sample of the type of music you’ll hear on the night. Doors open at 5:30pm and tickets are available for just $25 from Harlow’s Restaurant Nightclub on 2708 J Street.

2k – 5K Doggy Dash (April 8th)

What better way to show your appreciation for your four legged friends, and to support the Sacramento SPCA, than to take part in the “Bark in The Park” festival. This event also gives prospective dog parents/fosterers a chance to meet dogs who are still looking for their “furever” home. You can choose between a 2k or 5k walk, but please make sure to be at William Land Park at 8.30am for registration on Saturday April 8th. The walk starts at 10.00am, and once you’re done you can take in some of the K9 demonstrations, and also check out some of the pet supply vendors who’ll be present on the day.

Easter Egg Hunt! (April 8th)

It’s almost that time of the year again when everyone eats more chocolate than could ever be considered healthy, but it’s all part of the fun. The annual Easter Egg Hunt takes place between 

Spring Break Mural Workshop (April 10th)

Tapping into your artistic side is pretty much always a good thing for you – you can discover a lot about yourself when you put pain to canvas. In this workshop you’ll be applying paint to brick or concrete, but doing it legally. This event is aimed at teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17, where they can paint a mural with the help of a local artist. This event takes place at Oak Park Community Centre, and anyone interested in taking part will need to be there from 10am.

Sacramento Dog Show (April 13th)

This particular event has been running now for almost 100 years, making it one of the oldest of its type in the United States. Fans of our canine buddies really can’t afford to miss this great event, suitable for all the family. Children under the age of 12 can come along free of charge, while a general admission ticket for this fun event costs just $15. You can get more information here: http://www.sacramentodogshow.com/

Off the grid: Sacramento Zoo (Apr 20th)

How about enjoying a “pop-up picnic” with the added perk of a location right beside Sacramento Zoo? “Off The Grid” is putting on another event to bring the local community together in their love of being outdoors and enjoying great food. There’s plenty of live music to tune in to, while you sample the culinary wares of the ten different food trucks visiting the site. Admission to the event is free, but you will still need to buy a ticket if you want to go visit the animals in the zoo.

2017 Hornet Car and Bike Show (April 22nd)

Fans of everything gas-powered are going to be in their element at the Harper Alumni Centre between 9am and 2pm on April 22nd. This is because you’ll find cars and motorbikes spanning several decades on display. Spectators are always welcome, but you do also have the option of putting your own car or bike on display. There’s lots of great food, prizes and live music on offer, in addition to all the chrome, huge rims and shimmering paint.

Spectators can attend the show free of charge, but if you want to showing your car or bike costs between $25 and $30.

Roller Derby Tryouts (April 23rd)

And now for something completely different: You can try out for the Sacramento Roller Derby team this month. Now, this isn’t something everyone wants to take part in, but if you want an intro to what it takes to be part of a roller derby team, then you should at least show up. Tryouts take place in Sacred City Warehouse on 1501 NC Street between 1pm and 3pm. Please note that only people actually trying out for the team can attend – friends and/or family members have to wait outside.

California Honey Festival (May 6th)

Woodland Main Street will play home to the California Honey Festival on Saturday, May 6th 2017. This is a celebration of the fabulous food that is natural honey, but it also aims to educate people to the importance of the bee population to farmers and humanity in general. Most people don’t understand just how important bees are for our ecosystem, and the crops we grow. There will be carnival rides, and you can even try some mead (honey wine) if you’re interested. This is a free event the whole family can enjoy.
